President's Message
Dear AIPNO Friends and Family,
It is a great honor and privilege for Prakash Chand, MD, to serve as the President of the Association of Indian Physicians of Northern Ohio (AIPNO) in 2026. Having been an active member of AIPNO for many years, he has proudly served as an Executive Committee member since 2020, Secretary during 2023–2024, and President-Elect in 2025. He is deeply grateful for the trust and confidence placed in him by the members to lead this esteemed nonprofit medical organization.
Since its establishment in 1983, AIPNO has stood as a symbol of humanity, compassion, philanthropy, and professional excellence. Built upon the vision and dedication of its founders and past leaders and later nurtured by many selfless leaders, AIPNO continues to strengthen its mission through service, education, research, and community outreach. The organization has consistently promoted healthcare advancement while fostering mutual respect, unity, and collaboration among physicians, healthcare professionals, and the broader community.
After completing his Internal Medicine residency and Transplant Hepatology fellowship, Dr. Chand chose Northeast Ohio as his home in order to dedicate his career to the service of humanity and patient care. He has served as an internist, hospitalist, and hepatologist in several healthcare institutions, including Cleveland Clinic- South Pointe Hospital, UH Elyria Medical Center and Wooster Community Health System. Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he remains actively involved in quality improvement initiatives and education to enhance patient outcomes and improve quality of patient care
As President, Dr. Chand is deeply committed to foster trust by ensuring transparency, inclusiveness, and integrity in every aspect of AIPNO’s organizational activities and business affairs. He believes that leadership is not only about guiding an organization forward, but also about listening to members, valuing their perspectives, and creating an environment where every individual feels respected and included. Through open communication and ethical leadership, his goal is to strengthen the faith and confidence of AIPNO members in a more resolute and lasting way.
In summer, AIPNO launches education sessions and career counselling to medical students and residents. Further, it provides opportunities for research and mentorship under AIPNO internationally recognized research scientists.Through these voluntary programs, AIPNO strives to empower medical students, residents, and fellows. The guidance provided by experienced physicians and internationally recognized researchers creates a strong foundation for academic and professional growth.
In addition, the Women’s Wing of AIPNO continues to play a vital role in strengthening community engagement through leadership, kindness, empathy, and charitable activities. Their dedication reflects the true spirit of service and humanity that defines AIPNO.
The journey of serving humanity is endless. He firmly believes that when people come together with unity, mutual respect, and compassion, extraordinary achievements become possible. By embracing inclusiveness and supporting one another, AIPNO can continue to grow as a leading nonprofit medical organization devoted to philanthropy, healthcare service, education, and scientific research. With a shared vision and unwavering commitment, AIPNO is well-positioned to attain new heights of success and continue creating a lasting impact in the years to come.
